next thursday is national spumoni day! some of you might be like, what the hell is spumoni? so i will tell you.

spumoni is layered ice cream, similiar to a neopolitan, containing different flavors and colors, nuts, and candied fruits. the flavors are generally pistachio, chocolate, vanilla and cherry (and sometimes other things too…) the fruit layer contains pieces of cherries. spumoni apparently originated in naples, italy, however it is not often eaten in italy today. it’s popular in other places around the world with large italian populations. spumoni also comes in a tub in the freezer section at your local mega-mart, but somehow i feel that it is not how people in naples intended for it to be…
